The Knicks have signed veteran point guard Brandon Knight, the team announced in a release.
Knight, 29, is 6-foot-2 and was the No. 8 overall pick in 2011. He last played in the NBA in 2019-20, when he appeared in a total of 25 games for the Cavaliers and Pistons, averaging 7.3 points and 2.8 assists.
He has also spent time with the Bucks, Suns and Rockets. Knight was part of the Cavs’ trade for center Andre Drummond, then of the Pistons and now with the 76ers.
“While we don’t know exactly what the Knicks’ plan is, most signings this week have been for G League purposes, so it’s possible the veteran will be waived shortly and will report to the Westchester Knicks, New York’s NBAGL affiliate,” noted Luke Adams of Hoops Rumors.
Kemba Walker, Derrick Rose and Immanuel Quickley are the current point guards on New York’s roster.
