Latvia may not have had great hopes in the FIBA World Cup even with Celtics forward Kristaps Porzingis. Now, those slim hopes are even dimmer.
As relayed by Basket News, Porzingis has been ruled out of the World Cup with a foot injury. It is not expected to impact his first stint with the Celtics, sources said.
In other words, Porzingis is likely to be ready for training camp following Boston’s three-team trade with the Wizards and Grizzlies.
However, he isn’t expected to recover fully for the tournament, sources told Basket News.
Latvia is making its first-ever appearance in the World Cup, tipping off the tourney vs. Lebanon on Friday, Aug. 25. Thunder forward Davis Bertans is also a member of the Latvian national team and is expected to play despite dealing with a minor calf injury.
