Irving has been suspended by the Nets after sharing a link to a film with antisemitic views.

Silver noted that he intended to meet with Irving after Irving at first refused to offer a public apology when speaking to the press. Irving has since apologized on his own social media account.

According to Charania, the meeting between Irving and Silver “paved the way for the Nets and their suspended star to work through his steps on a potential path forward.”

As we relayed here, the Nets have a set of steps Irving has to complete before they consider lifting his suspension. As we also relayed here, the players union is expected to appeal the conditions for Irving’s return.

Irving, 30, is in the final year of a contract that will pay him $36.5 million this season. He is averaging 26.9 points, 5.1 rebounds and 5.1 assists in the five games in which he did play.
