The Lakers have officially signed center DeAndre Jordan, the team announced in a press release.
Jordan was traded from the Nets to the Pistons last week, then agreed to a contract buyout with Detroit shortly after.
Jordan, 32, averaged 7.5 points and 7.5 rebounds in 57 games last season, but did not appear in the playoffs. He signed a four-year deal worth about $40 million in 2019, when Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving also signed.
Jordan will join Marc Gasol and fellow free agent signing Dwight Howard in the pivot for the remade Lakers. He’ll make the veteran’s minimum of $2.6 million.
Per the press release: “Jordan is the NBA’s all-time leader in career field goal percentage, having shot 67.4 percent (3527-5234) from the field throughout his career and is the only player in NBA history with multiple seasons shooting over 70 percent from the field.”
