Lakers star forward Anthony Davis is expected to miss at least two weeks after suffering a right ankle sprain in Wednesday’s win over the Jazz, per ESPN and RealGM.
Davis was ruled out for the rest of the game after receiving an X-ray in the locker room at halftime. The X-ray came back negative, the team said.
“Davis had X-rays done which indicated that there were no fractures. He’s scheduled for an MRI on Thursday, but it seems like Davis avoided the worst,” RealGM wrote.
ESPN also reported throughout the day on its many platforms that Davis is out at least two weeks.
He is set to receive treatment over the All-Star break, then be re-evaluated when the Lakers return to practice, Lakers coach Frank Vogel said.
Davis suffered the injury under the Lakers basket after coming down on Jazz center Rudy Gobert‘s heel while reaching for a lob pass. Davis’ right ankle buckled as he came back to the ground.
After getting up slowly, Davis was unable to put any weight on the leg and went back to the locker room with the assistance of teammates.
The talented but injury-prone power forward is averaging 23.1 points and 9.7 rebounds in 37 games.
