LeBron James once again proved why he’s one of the most resilient and dominant forces in the game, posting his third straight triple-double as the Lakers clawed their way to a 128-123 victory over the Grizzlies on Wednesday night.
With 35 points, 14 assists, and 12 rebounds on an efficient 13-of-22 from the field—including a sharp 4-of-7 from deep — LeBron seemed to defy Father Time yet again.
And now the Lakers (7-4) are 6-0 at home for the first time since 2011-12.
Anthony Davis, despite foul trouble that kept him sidelined for an extended period, delivered when it counted most. His 21 points featured a crucial 11 in the fourth quarter, highlighted by a clutch 3-pointer with just under five minutes left that gave the Lakers a lead they wouldn’t relinquish.
Davis’ stat line included 14 rebounds, reinforcing why he’s an indispensable part of this Lakers squad.
On the other side, Jaren Jackson Jr. paced the Grizzlies with 29 points, but it wasn’t enough to extend their three-game winning streak. Marcus Smart’s return after a six-game absence due to an ankle injury was a bright spot; he chipped in with 14 points and brought his trademark defensive tenacity.
The Lakers got valuable contributions from their supporting cast. Rookie Dalton Knecht and Rui Hachimura both added 19 points, with Knecht showcasing a perfect shooting night from beyond the arc, nailing all five of his 3-point attempts. The Lakers’ offensive arsenal was on full display, as they knocked down a season-high 20 triples to power past Memphis.
The fourth quarter was where it all came together for Los Angeles. Starting down 96-91, the Lakers ripped off a 10-2 run to seize momentum. The lead flipped multiple times until Davis’ dagger 3-pointer shifted the tide for good.
