The Lakers didn’t just lose in Oklahoma City on Thursday.. They got run out of the gym.
The Thunder won by 29, Luka Doncic finished with a season-low 19 points on 7-for-20 shooting, and the game was basically over before the fourth quarter.
But Doncic wasn’t reading too much into any supposed gap between the two teams. If anything, he treated it like fuel.
“Definitely wasn’t our best game, probably one of the worst this season,” Doncic told reporters, via Khobi Price of the Orange County Register. “They all did a great job on me. They’re champions for a reason. They showed that.
“We need to be more ready. Obviously, it starts with me. I need to be way better than that.”
Oklahoma City threw waves at him. Traps. Timely doubles. The usual. They did the same to Warriors star Stephen Curry the previous night. It all added up to one of those nights where even the best players in the world look mortal. But Doncic knows it won’t be his last shot at OKC.
Thiero Update: Rookie forward Adou Thiero is listed as questionable for Friday’s game in New Orleans, per Dan Woike of The Athletic. The 36th pick in the 2025 draft and renowned high-flyer still hasn’t logged his NBA debut after undergoing left knee surgery back in college.
