The Lakers plan to sign free agent big man Drew Timme to a two-way contract, according to Brett Siegel of ClutchPoints.

Los Angeles currently has its two-way spots filled by Nick Smith Jr., Christian Koloko and Chris Manon. Siegel reports Smith is safe, meaning either Koloko or Manon will be waived to make room for Timme.

Timme starred at Gonzaga but went undrafted in 2023 and has spent most of his pro career in the G League. The Nets signed him to a two-year deal late last season after a strong run with their Long Island affiliate.

Brooklyn picked up his $1.9 million option in June, but the contract was non-guaranteed and he was waived in the preseason.

The 25-year-old averaged 12.1 points, 7.2 rebounds and 2.2 assists in nine appearances with Brooklyn down the stretch last season.

He also put up big Summer League numbers, averaging 25.3 points and 8.0 rebounds in three games.

Timme has been playing for South Bay to open the season and is averaging 28.3 points, 6.5 rebounds and 4.5 assists through four Tip-Off Tournament games.

Manon and Koloko have both played sparingly for the Lakers but have produced well in the G League. Manon leads the league in steals at 3.5 per game, while Koloko has averaged four blocks across two outings.
