The Lakers have requested permission to interview Bucks assistant Charles Lee for their coaching vacancy, per Shams Charania of The Athletic.
Lee is the latest name on a list of candidates that also reportedly includes fellow Bucks assistant Darvin Ham, former Nets coach and current Clippers assistant Kenny Atkinson, former Trail Blazers coach Terry Stotts, Raptors assistant Adrian Griffin and former Warriors coach and current ESPN analyst Mark Jackson.
The Lakers reportedly may have an interest in former Thunder and Wizards coach Scott Brooks, who coached LA point guard Russell Westbrook in both previous stops.
Lee, 37, has been an assistant under Bucks coach Mike Budenholzer since 2014, back when Budenholzer was coaching the Hawks.
Lee has also interviewed for the Hornets’ vacancy, and did so with the Kings when that job was still available. He interviewed with the Pelicans and Wizards last summer as well.
As we’ve relayed, former Lakers coach Phil Jackson is serving as an advisor this offseason and likely has a “significant” voice in the coaching search.
