Lakers star Anthony Davis has already missed 17 games with a knee sprain, and now he’s due to miss at least another 11 with mid-foot sprain.
Can the already struggling Lakers find a way to make something of their season without Davis, again?
It’s not Davis’ fault that he’s been prone to injury. But that’s been his career. It’s especially been his time in LA. With LeBron James already having to carry too much of the load for a 37-year old … well, it’s hard to envision the Lakers charging out of the break.
But that’s pretty much what they will have to do, minus Davis, to avoid a bottom seed in the playoffs. Actually, with the way things are going, the Lakers may struggle to stay in the play-in tournament.
It will be real interesting to see where the Lakers go from here. They can’t make another move. They stood pat at the trade deadline. There is no magic potion out there.
And Davis is out … again … when it is beginning to mean the most.
As an aside, here is our post on if the Lakers should explore a Davis trade this offseason. At this point, he’s their lone true asset and it may be well worth considering.
