Lakers Signing Christian Wood to Two-Year Deal

The Lakers and center Christian Wood have agreed to a two-year contract, per Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.Christian Wood

Wood is one of the highest-profile free agents on the market, but for some reason, was drawing only minimal interest. Hoops Wire has him ranked as the top remaining free agent.

Per ESPN’s Bobby Marks, Wood will earn $2.7 million in the first season of the deal, with the second year a player option of a little more than $3 million. As Marks noted, Wood joins a big man rotation that also includes the likes of Anthony Davis, Jaxson Hayes, Jarred Vanderbilt and Rui Hachimura.

Wood, 27, had a pretty nice run in his lone year with the Mavericks last season, averaging 16.6 points and 7.3 rebounds in 67 games, as well as shooting 52 percent from the field and 38 percent on 3-pointers. The fact the Mavs didn’t want him back intrigued some of those around the NBA.

Along with the Mavericks, Wood has spent time with the Rockets, Pistons, Pelicans, Bucks, Hornets and 76ers since entering the league in 2015.

  1. Great move by the Lakers! He shoots as well as Niang but does more and how much less did they pay for him? That’s why they are still Basketballs premier organization. 😊
