The Lakers, Jazz and Timberwolves are discussing a trade centered on guard Russell Westbrook that would send Minnesota guard D’Angelo Russell to Los Angeles, per Shams Charania and Tony Jones of The Athletic.
Per multiple reports, discussions are ongoing and Westbrook would agree to a contract buyout with the Jazz.
As part of the trade, per Charania and Jones, Westbrook and draft compensation would head to the Jazz, point guard Mike Conley would go to the Timberwolves, and Russell would go to the Lakers. There could be other players and picks involved as well, sources told Hoops Wire.
As relayed by Jake Fischer of Yahoo Sports, Jazz power forward Jarred Vanderbilt and shooting guard Malik Beasley have also been involved in versions of the talks. Given that both players were acquired from the Timberwolves over the summer, you’d have to think the Lakers would be a more likely destination for either player.

D’Angelo Russell in LA? Sayonara to the rest of LeBron’s hair.
Westbrook the best overall player here still, ironically. Has been building chemistry w LeBron lately too. But the scapegoat is strong in LA on Russ (since day one).
And Conley seems like a better fit in LA.
