Star forward LeBron James and Anthony Davis are both listed as out for Wednesday’s road game against the Raptors, as relayed by Shams Charania of The Athletic.
James is listed as being out with a sore foot, while Davis is out because of illness.
Davis exited Tuesday’s loss to the Cavaliers with flu-like symptoms after playing just eight minutes. It was not COVID-related, coach Darvin Ham said.
“It progressively got worse,” Ham said of Davis falling ill. “His temperature went over a 100, I believe it was 101 and some change. He said he was going to try and give it a go, which he did. But he just felt too weak, just too drained — dehydrated a little bit. But it’s that time of the season, in terms of wintertime, weather change, change of climate — coming from L.A. going to these different places.”
Davis scored 55 points in the Lakers’ win over the Wizards on Sunday, and 44 in a win over the Bucks last week. The game in Toronto is the fourth of a six-game trip for the lakers (10-13), who are spending much of December on the road.
“Next man up,” James said about the Lakers losing Davis. “But that’s a tall task. Figuratively and literally for what AD has been doing for us over the last few weeks.”
James reportedly tweaked an ankle injury against the Wizards, but did not want to miss the game in Cleveland, which he led to the championship in 2016. His foot injury is not considered serious.
