High school All-American Bronny James is headed to USC, where he will undoubtedly be auditioning for the NBA. Perhaps not on purpose, but there’s no doubt the NBA will be watching.
And LeBron James said he continues to hold on to the dream of playing with his son at the highest level of basketball.
“I was serious, and I’m still serious about it,” James said after the Lakers’ Game 3 win over the Warriors on Saturday, via Ramona Shelburne of ESPN.
James, 38, will be staring down 40 by the time Bronny is eligible for the NBA. While LeBron fights off father time, Bronny is just getting going.
Scouts have told Hoops Wire they view Bronny as a late-first or early second-round draft pick at the moment — but all admitted that can change depending on what happens next.
“I’ve done what I’ve had to do in this league,” James said. “My son is going to take his journey. And whatever his journey, however his journey lays out, he’s going to do what’s best for him. And as his dad, and his mom, Savannah, and his brother and sister, we’re going to support him in whatever he decides to do.
“So, just because that’s my aspiration or my goal, doesn’t mean it’s his. And I’m absolutely OK with that.”
