LeBron James is organizing a pre-camp minicamp with his Lakers teammates in Las Vegas, according to Shams Charania of The Athletic.
This is nothing new for James, who has formed these sort of basketball-based bonding sessions dating back to his second run with the Cavaliers from 2014-18. As Charania noted, James also did it with the Lakers prior to the championship run in the 2020 Orlando bubble.
The latest Camp LeBron will start Friday and last for three days, Charania reported.
It’s not necessarily a big surprise, given the Lakers’ many new faces. The long list includes of arrivals includes Russell Westbrook, Carmelo Anthony, Dwight Howard, DeAndre Jordan, Rajon Rondo, Kendrick Nunn, Malik Monk, Wayne Ellington, Trevor Ariza and Kent Bazemore.
Only three players return from last season’s Lakers — James, Anthony Davis and Talen Horton-Tucker. LA was bounced from the playoffs in the first round, falling to the eventual Western Conference champion Suns in six games.
