The LeBron James rumor mill never really shuts off. It just changes subjects.
According to Eric Pincus of Bleacher Report, there’s renewed league chatter that James could eventually become the face of a future NBA expansion team in Las Vegas, assuming he retires as a player and the league moves forward with expansion.
One theory making the rounds involves James’ longtime agent, Rich Paul, potentially selling Klutch Sports to United Talent Agency. With added financial backing, James and Paul could then pursue ownership opportunities rather than roster spots.
That’s a lot of dots to connect. Even Pincus stresses caution. The NBA has not formally committed to expansion, let alone identified cities.
Las Vegas and Seattle are widely viewed as the most logical destinations, but if expansion happens, the league would allow multiple ownership groups to pitch proposals.
Still, the idea isn’t new. James has been open about his interest in ownership, and Vegas has hovered in NBA conversations for years. It’s the kind of rumor that hangs around because it could make sense someday, not because it’s close to happening now.
Meanwhile, James’ immediate future remains centered on basketball decisions, including whether he stays with the Lakers or plays elsewhere. Ownership talk lives a few chapters down the road.
Worth monitoring. Nothing more. Nothing less.
