LeBron James seems to know the Lakers’ best chance to turn things around is with him on the floor. So despite suffering from foot soreness, he intends to stay on the floor.
James revealed as much when speaking to reporters, including Jovan Buha of The Athletic. He missed the Lakers’ last game, sitting out for the purpose of giving the foot some rest.
But whether James has played or not hasn’t really mattered. The Lakers entered Wednesday’s game vs. the Clippers at 2-8, with a home win against the Pelicans coming in overtime, only after a couple of missed free throws by New Orleans and a miracle 3-pointer from Matt Ryan.
Basically, they should be 1-9 after the first 10 games.
James himself has even drawn some scrutiny from Lakers fans, despite being the Lakers’ best hope at the ripe old basketball age of 37.
“C’mon man. I’m turning 38 in almost two months, basically two months,” James said, via Dave McMenamin of ESPN. “And when you know who you are, to be honest, if you really, truly caring about what people say, that doesn’t matter.”
Meanwhile, the Lakers remain on the lookout for help via trade, and reportedly even have a specific player in mind.
