LeBron James sets another record, passes Kareem for most total wins

At this point, it’s almost routine.

LeBron James added another record Tuesday night as the Lakers handled the visiting Cavaliers, 127-113.

The win was No. 1,229 for James across the regular season and playoffs. That moves him past Kareem Abdul-Jabbar for the most total victories in NBA history.

Just another line on a very long résumé.

James passing Kareem has kind of become a theme. He took the all-time scoring record in 2023. Earlier this month, he passed him again on the career field goals list. He’s also now the league’s all-time leader in games played, moving beyond Robert Parish.

This one hits a little different, though. Wins. That’s the whole point.

To be clear, Kareem still holds the regular-season wins record at 1,074. James sits at 1,045, so that one would likely require a 24th season.

Which, at this rate, you probably can’t rule out.

James already owns just about every longevity mark that matters. Games. Minutes. Seasons. Playoff appearances. Now total wins, too.

And this is the one that kind of sums it all up. You can debate numbers. You can debate eras.

But if LeBron James is on your team, you’ve got a chance. Now there’s a record that says exactly that.
