Former Orlando Magic forward Admiral Schofield has signed with French club ASVEL Basket, the team announced in a press release.
Schofield, 27, is 6-foot-5 and appeared in 23 games with the Magic last season. He appeared in 75 total games, all with Orlando, in the two seasons combined before last. His NBA career began with the Wizards in 2019-20, when he played 33 games.
The No. 49 overall pick in the 2019 NBA Draft, Schofield carries NBA career averages of 3.3 points and 1.6 rebounds. He has also spent plenty of time in the G League.
At any rate, ASVEL could use the help, as noted by Johnny Askjounis of Eurohoops.
“(Schofield) emerged as the second summer signing for the team controlled by NBA legend Tony Parker and coached by Pierric Poupet, following 25-year-old Neal Sako,” Askounis wrote. “Charles Kahudi, Joffrey Lauvergne, and David Lighty are also under contract for the 2024-25 season.
“Last season, ASVEL banked a 9-25 record and ranked 17th out of 18 teams in the EuroLeague. The domestic campaign was ended by Paris in the Semifinals of France’s Betclic Elite Playoffs.”
Along with the aforementioned names, the ASVEL roster includes former NBA players Theo Maledon, Melvin Ajinca, Tarik Black and Shaquille Harrison. Along with Schofield, those four are newcomers this season. Ex-NBA guard Nando De Colo also signed an extension with the club this offseason.
Meanwhile, former NBA forwards Mike Scott and Timothe Luwawu-Cabarrot left, as did ex-Ohio State star Deshaun Thomas, who remains a free agent.
