Magic Signing Cory Joseph To Two-Year Contract

The Orlando Magic have agreed to a two-year contract with veteran guard Cory Joseph, per Michael Scotto of HoopsHype.Cory Joseph, NBA, Warriors, Magic

Joseph, 32, is 6-foot-2 and has mostly been a spot player off the bench in recent years. He spent last year with the Golden State Warriors and appeared in just 26 games. He was traded to the Indiana Pacers in February and then immediately waived. Perhaps his best season came in 2020-21, when he was with both the Sacramento Kings and Detroit Pistons.

He has also spent time with the San Antonio Spurs, Toronto Raptors and Pacers.

The addition of Joseph likely means the end of guad Markelle Fultz with the Magic, though that’s not yet a guarantee. Orlando has also added veteran shooting guard Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, previously of the Denver Nuggets, and re-signed guard Gary Harris Jr. Meanwhile, Fultz remains unsigned as an unrestricted free agent.

The Nuggets are among the teams with potential interest in Fultz, sources told Hoops Wire.

Meanwhile, the Magic finished with the No. 5 seed in the Eastern Conference and stretched their first-round matchup vs. the Cleveland Cavaliers to seven games. They blew an 18-point lead in Game 7, but many around the NBA believe that hard lesson will only make the young Magic even better in the upcoming season.

Joseph is represented by agent Rich Paul of Kluth Sports Group.
