The Magic have waived small forward Tre Scott and guard/forward Myron Gardner, per the NBA transactions log.
Scott is 6-foot-8 and has appeared in two NBA games, both with the Cavaliers in 2021-22. He has also played professionally in the G League, as well as in Puerto Rico, France, and Canada. He appeared in 41 total G League games with the Greensboro Swarm and the Osceola Magic last season, averaging 8.0 points, 4.6 rebounds, and 1.1 assists.
Gardner, 23, is 6-6 and also played for the Osecola Magic last season, compiling averages of 5.4 points, 4.4 rebounds, and 1.1 assists in 47 games. He is a product of SPIRE Academy in Geneva, Ohio, and played college ball at Georgetown and Little Rock.
Both Scott and Gardner also played for Orlando in the NBA summer league and are likely headed back to the G League.
The Magic currently have 18 players on their camp roster, 15 of which are on guaranteed deals. Trevelin Queen is on a two-way deal and former lottery pick Jarrett Culver and Jalen Slawson are on Exhibit 10 deals. So Orlando still has three spots to fill, assuming it wants to do so.
An Exhibit 10 contract is a non-guaranteed minimum-salary deal. It doesn’t count toward a team’s cap unless the player makes the final roster. It also can be converted to a two-way deal before the season begins or mean guaranteed money if a player is waived and then stays on the G League club for at least 60 days.
