The Magic have officially signed guard Joel Ayayi to a training camp contract, as relayed by RealGM.
The deal is likely a non-guaranteed Exhibit 10 deal that will land Ayayi with the Magic’s G League affiliate in Lakeland.
Ayayi, 22, is 6-foot-5 and went undrafted out of Gonzaga in 2021, signing a two-way contract with the Lakers. He was waived before the start of last season, then spent most of the season with the Wizards and their G League affiliate.
He appeared in seven games with the Wizards, averaging 3.6 points and 5.4 rebounds. He also averaged 10.7 points, 6.6 assists and 5.7 rebounds in 29 appearances with the Capital City Go-Go.
An Exhibit 10 contract is a contract that counts toward the offseason roster limit of 20, but does not count toward the salary cap unless the player makes the team.
The Magic already have 15 players under guaranteed contract and both two-way slots filled.
