The Magic have signed No. 1 overall draft pick Paolo Banchero to his rookie contract, the team announced in a press release.
Banchero, 19, is 6-foot-10 and spent one season at Duke, averaging 17.2 points and 7.8 rebounds in 39 games.
He is due to make $9.2 million in his first season, $9.6 million in his second and $10.1 million in his third. The final year consists of a team option.
Interestingly, Banchero did not work out for Orlando prior to the draft.
The official NBA Draft Guide wrote of his strengths: “Rare combination of size and offensive polish. Operates with ease from all spots on the floor. Outstanding range, touch and handle. Very good passer and playmaker for his size.”
