The Magic have waived guard Joel Ayayi, and signed point guard Zavier Simpson and small forward Aleem Ford, the team announced.
All three players are likely headed for the Lakeland Magic, Orlando’s affiliate in the G League.
Ayayi, 22, is 6-foot-5 and went undrafted out of Gonzaga in 2021, signing a two-way contract with the Lakers. He was waived before the start of last season, then spent most of the season with the Wizards and their G League affiliate.
He appeared in seven games with the Wizards, averaging 3.6 points and 5.4 rebounds. He also averaged 10.7 points, 6.6 assists and 5.7 rebounds in 29 appearances with the Capital City Go-Go.
Ford, 24, is 6-8 signed a 10-day deal with the Magic last season, appearing in five games. He spent most of his time with Lakeland, averaging 12.5 points and 4.2 rebounds in 31 appearances.
Simpson, 25, is 6-0 and actually started in four games for the Thunder at the end of last season, after signing a 10-day deal in April. That served as the lone NBA experience for the former Ohio Mr. Basketball.
