Former Lakers center Marc Gasol is still deciding on his future after being officially waived by the Grizzlies, according to a report from CCMA.
Gasol was traded from the Lakers to the Grizzlies for the draft rights to center Wang Zhelin, a 2024 second-round pick and cash late last week. He has since been linked to Spanish club Girona, as reported by Per L’Esportiu de Catalunya, and relayed by Yiannis Bouranis of TalkBasket.
But Gasol is “working daily to get in shape with his trainer before deciding his future. His day-to-day is with Basquet Girona, but he hasn’t worked out with the team, as he did last season, and he hasn’t decided yet,” CCMA wrote.
His career began with Barcelona in 2003, and he was originally selected by the Lakers in the second round (No. 48 overall) of the 2007 NBA Draft. Gasol’s draft rights were traded to the Grizzlies in February 2008.
He spent 11 seasons in Memphis before being traded to the Raptors in 2018. Two seasons after winning a title with Toronto he joined Los Angeles on a one-year contract in free agency.
Gasol, 36, averaged 5.0 points and 4.1 rebounds in 52 games with the Lakers last season.
