The Mavericks may have their most movable piece drawing attention.
Big man Daniel Gafford is generating trade interest from the Warriors, Knicks, Pacers and Raptors, according to Grant Afseth of DallasHoopsJournal.
Gafford signed an extension with Dallas over the offseason, but around the league he’s viewed as the easiest piece for the front office to move if it chooses. The 27-year-old is averaging 8.2 points and six rebounds while shooting better than 60 percent from the field, numbers that tend to travel well.
Afseth noted that interest is real, though how aggressive those teams get remains to be seen. Much depends on whether Dallas believes moving Gafford fits its current direction.
The Mavericks sit outside the incredibly early playoff picture, and flexibility may soon matter more than patience.
