Mavericks hear from Hawks, Raptors, Bulls on Anthony Davis, but only at ‘bargain’

Several teams have checked in on Mavericks star Anthony Davis, but they are doing so with a clear hope that the price comes down.

According to Jake Fischer of Bleacher Report, the Hawks, Raptors, and Bulls have all made inquiries with Dallas about Davis. The common theme is that those teams would like to land him “at a bargain.”

That is not something Dallas appears willing to entertain.

“Teams like Atlanta and Toronto and Chicago that have called about Anthony Davis, they want to get him for cheap,” Fischer said. “That’s not what Dallas has any interest in doing. They want to sell him for the type of value Nico Harrison thought he was worth when he traded for him for Luka Doncic.”

Davis has appeared in 14 games this season due to a left calf injury. When available, he has averaged 21.0 points, 11.6 rebounds, 2.9 assists, 1.1 steals, and 1.6 blocks while shooting 51.7 percent from the field.

Reports say that the Mavericks are at least exploring the market not only for Davis, but also for Daniel Gafford, Klay Thompson, and D’Angelo Russell. Davis’ name has circulated regularly since Harrison was fired as general manager.

Since arriving in Dallas last season, Davis has played 23 games, averaging 20.6 points and 11.0 rebounds. He is making $54.1 million this season and will be eligible for a four-year, $275 million extension in August. He does not hold a no-trade clause.
