The Mavericks know what everyone is still talking about. Coach Jason Kidd is ready to turn the page.
Asked about the lingering fallout from the Luka Doncic trade, Kidd didn’t dodge it. He leaned right into it.
“When are we going to move on? We have to move forward,” Kidd said, via Brad Townsend of the Dallas Morning News. “We’re focused on the present and the future and we’ve got an incredible opportunity to build. I truly believe the Mavs fans have built before and will build again. And we want them to be a part of this build.”

That’s the message coming from Dallas. Whether it lands is another question.
The Mavericks are set to miss the playoffs for a second straight season, while Doncic is putting up MVP numbers with the Los Angeles Lakers. So no, the noise hasn’t exactly faded.
Kidd was also asked about recent comments from Mark Cuban, who said he regrets selling the team to Miriam Adelson and Patrick Dumont.
Kidd stayed neutral.
“And so the things that are going on between two owners is between the two owners,” he said. “I think we have a great owner in Patrick 9Dumont) and he’s going to give us every resource to build a championship team. Out of respect to Cuban, he helped me and my family. We won a championship together.
“The two owners will figure it out. I truly believe that we have to focus on the present and the future. We’ve got a great opportunity.”
That’s the stance internally. Move forward, even if not everyone else is ready to.
