Mavs Signing Moses Brown To 10-Day Contract

The Dallas Mavericks are finalizing a 10-day contract with center Moses Brown, according to his agent, Ryan Davis, who confirmed the move to NBA insider Shams Charania of ESPN.Moses Brown, Knicks, NBA, Mavericks

The signing comes as the Mavericks deal with significant frontcourt injuries, including Anthony Davis, Dereck Lively, and Daniel Gafford, while Dwight Powell has been sidelined for over a month with a hip strain.

NBA insider Marc Stein of The Stein Line reported that Brown will audition for the Mavericks on Wednesday and could officially sign the contract as soon as this afternoon, assuming the tryout goes well.

The 25-year-old center has spent the current season with the Westchester Knicks in the G League, where he has posted impressive numbers — averaging 15.9 points, 14.3 rebounds, and 1.5 blocks in 26 games.

Brown’s NBA career includes stints with seven different teams, totaling 159 regular-season games since his debut in 2019. The Mavericks, currently operating under a restrictive hard-cap situation, have only $171,120 in cap space, leaving little room for maneuvering.

Brown’s contract will carry a cap hit of $119,972, reducing Dallas’ available cap space to just $51,148 once the deal expires. The Mavericks will not be able to add a 15th player to the roster until April 10, due to their hard-cap constraints.

No corresponding roster move is required, as the Mavericks are currently carrying 14 players on standard contracts. Either way, Brown’s signing provides the Mavs with an immediate option to address their frontcourt needs during a critical stretch.
