Mavericks not looking to trade Kyrie Irving; open on Anthony Davis

ESPN’s Tim MacMahon says the Mavericks have one clear stance as the trade market heats up. They are not looking to move Kyrie Irving.

Irving opted out this summer and signed a new three year deal, locking him in through the 2027 season.

That alone makes a midseason deal difficult, but MacMahon said it goes beyond contract logistics.

“The Mavericks do not want to trade him,” he said on his NBA podcast. “Trading Kyrie is not something on their priority list, or it is just straight up not something they are interested in doing right now.”

Anthony Davis is a different story. MacMahon repeated that trading Davis is a real possibility, and maybe even a likelihood, depending on how Dallas plays over the next several weeks.

But Irving is not part of that equation.

The Mavericks have struggled without Davis, yet still view Irving as central to whatever comes next.

Irving averaged 24.7 points and nearly five assists last season and remains one of the team’s most trusted late game creators.

There is no known timetable for his return from an ACL injury.
