The Mavericks are converting guard Ryan Nembhard from a two-way contract to a two-year standard deal that includes a team option for 2026-27, per Marc Stein.

Nembhard’s agents confirmed the agreement.

The 22-year-old has appeared in 38 games for Dallas, including 17 starts. He is averaging 6.7 points and 4.9 assists overall. In games he has started, those numbers have climbed to 9.9 points and 6.1 assists, while shooting 44.4 percent from three-point range.

Nembhard has not played since February 5 as he neared the 50-game limit for two-way players. He earned extended minutes earlier in the season amid injuries in the backcourt and capitalized on the opportunity.

Dallas created the roster opening by waiving veteran guard Tyus Jones. The move gives the Mavericks flexibility, as they now have an available two-way slot that can be filled before the March 4 signing deadline.

Nembhard went undrafted out of Gonzaga and signed a two-way contract shortly after the draft. Earlier this season, he said he was focused more on performance than contract status.

“I’ll let my agents and everybody figure that out,” Nembhard said. “If I go on the court and handle business and do my job at a high level, then that will take care of itself.”
