Not even a left thumb sprain will hold down Luka Doncic. Instead, the Dallas Mavericks star guard is expected to keep right on playing.
Mavs coach Jason Kidd told reporters that an MRI confirmed a sprained thumb for Doncic, but that Doncic is expected to be a go for Tuesday’s home game vs. the Houston Rockets. It will be another In-Season Tournament game for both teams.
Doncic sported a wrap on his injured thumb at practice on Monday, reported Brad Townsend of the Dallas Morning News. But he did practice, as Townsend revealed.
Doncic suffered the injury in the Mavericks’ loss to the Los Angeles Clippers on Saturday as he went for a steal while defending James Harden in the first quarter. Doncic said he hit his hand on Harden’s knee on the play.
“I don’t think it’s broken,” he told reporters. “We will see further tomorrow in Dallas.”
Doncic still scored 30 points in the game and is averaging 30.5 points, 7.9 rebounds and 7.8 assists on the season.
Donic left the practice court and removed the wrap, so it’s definitely not a semi-permanent splint of any kind. https://t.co/pKoG6mYQY8
