The Mavericks have signed former SMU forward Feron Hunt and ex-Louisville point guard Carlik Jones to training camp contracts, as relayed by RealGM.
Both players went undrafted before playing for the Mavericks’ summer league squad.
Hunt is 6-foot-8 and averaged 11.1 points and 7.9 rebounds last season as a junior. He averaged 9.0 points and shot 61 percent from the field in summer play, likely earning him a longer look and a spot on the Dallas’ G League affiliate.
Jones is 6-1 and many had him pegged as a second-round pick after he averaged 16.8 points, 4.9 rebounds and 4.5 assists as a senior with the Cardinals last season. He then compiled an average of 14.2 points in summer league, starting on three occasions.
The Mavericks now have the maximum-allowed 20 players on their training camp roster, making them the first team to fill out the roster, with more than a month to go before things tip off again.
Jason Kidd is entering his first season as Mavs coach, with former Nike executive Nico Harrison taking his first spin as an NBA general manager.
