The Mavericks are signing shooting guard Theo Pinson to a 10-day contract, according to Shams Charania of The Athletic.
Pinson, 26, is 6-foot-5 and spent part of last season with the Knicks, appearing in 21 games. He was with the Nets two years before that, and has played in 68 career games overall since going undrafted out of North Carolina.
Most recently, he has been playing for the Maine Celtics of the G League, averaging 16.4 points, 4.6 rebounds and 4.4 assists. While his offensive numbers have been better-than-solid with Maine, his biggest contribution in the NBA so far has been perimeter defense.
The Mavericks (14-15) have two players in health and safety protocols — Reggie Bullock and Josh Green. Per the NBA’s new roster rules, they are required to sign a replacement player to keep the games going.
Dallas is scheduled to face the Timberwolves on Tuesday at 8:30 p.m. EST.
