Free agent forward Michael Beasley has agreed to a deal with the Shanghai Sharks of the Chinese Basketball Association, according to Shams Charania of The Athletic.
Beasley, 33, spent all of last season as an unsigned free agent. Reports said he did stay in shape, working out with Rockets guard John Wall in Miami.
Beasley’s deal with the Sharks will pay him “seven figures,” Charania reported.
Originally drafted by the Heat with the No. 2 overall pick in 2018, he last played in the NBA in 2018-19, averaging 7.0 points in 26 games with the Lakers. He has also spent time with the Knicks, Rockets, Bucks, Timberwolves and Suns.
Beasley’s contract was voided for the 2020-21 season after he tested positive for COVID-19. Few NBA teams have shown an interest since then.
