Kings coach Mike Brown thinks shooting guard Kevin Huerter was fouled by the Warriors’ Klay Thompson on a potential game-tying 3-pointer at the final horn, and Brown would like an explanation.
“I just want, at the end of the game, somebody to step up and make the right call,” Brown told reporters. “A guy gets hit on the arm shooting a 3, it’s a foul. A guy takes 6 steps or 4 steps, it’s a travel. We just want an opportunity to win in overtime.”
The Kings (3-6) overcame a double-digit deficit to make a game of things, and overall, have made noticeable improvements under Brown. Mostly, they have a fight that may not have been seen in previous seasons.
But Brown indicated they aren’t yet be getting the respect they deserve from the refs. And this is the second time this season he has called out the officials. Last time, he said Heat guard Tyler Herro traveled on a game-winner that beat the Kings. The NBA later confirmed Brown’s accusation in its last-two-minute report.
“I feel bad for our guys,” Brown said after the loss to the Warriors. “It’s tough being a Sacramento King I think because Kevin got fouled. … I asked the ref if it was a foul, he said no. It was clearly a foul.”
