Lakers forward/center Montrezl Harrell is undecided on his player option with Saturday’s deadline rapidly approaching, per Michael Scotto of HoopsHype.
Harrell’s option would pay him $9.7 million next season, but he is “50-50” on whether to exercise it, per Scotto.
Should Harrell pick up the option, the Lakers very well could try to use him in a trade package as they seek to add a third star next to LeBron James and Anthony Davis.
As Shams Charania of The Athletic reported, the Lakers have held talks with the Kings about a trade centered on LA forward Kyle Kuzma and Sacramento shooting guard Buddy Hield.
Harrell and the Lakers’ No. 22 overall pick have also been “discussed in variations” of those conversations, Scotto added.
“Harrell’s insertion into trade talks with the Kings is noteworthy as Richaun Holmes enters unrestricted free agency this summer,” Scotto wrote.
Harrell, 27, averaged 13.5 points and 6.2 rebounds in 69 games last season, his first with the Lakers. He has also spent time with the Rockets and Clippers.
