Bucks
The Bucks are signing Alex Antetokounmpo to a two-way contract, per Shams Charania of ESPN. To make room, Milwaukee will waive Jamaree Bouyea, according to HoopsHype’s Michael Scotto.
Alex joins brothers Giannis and Thanasis, giving Milwaukee the first trio of brothers on active NBA contracts with the same team in league history.
The younger Antetokounmpo has bounced around the G League and Europe, most recently splitting time between teams in Lithuania, Montenegro and Greece.
Call it what it is — a nice story and maybe a little roster diplomacy. Giannis’ long-term happiness matters, and this certainly doesn’t hurt.
Heat
Kel’el Ware just keeps making it hard for coach Erik Spoelstra to bring him off the bench, per Anthony Chiang of The Miami Herald.
The second-year big man dropped 24 points, 10 boards and a couple of steals in Miami’s preseason loss to Orlando. Spoelstra said he’s pushing Ware to find “winning moments” and praised his willingness to be coached.
Spoelstra also publicly challenged Ware’s professionalism in Summer League, but the young center seems to have taken the message well.
He became a surprise starter next to Bam Adebayo last season, though Spoelstra hasn’t said if that’ll continue. As he put it, “all things are on the table.”
Wizards
Washington shuffled its camp roster again, signing guards Kadary Richmond and Alondes Williams to Exhibit 10 deals while waiving Leaky Black and Skal Labissiere. Richmond was a standout at St. John’s last year, averaging 12.4 points and 6.4 rebounds.
Williams has bounced around the league with short two-way stints in Brooklyn, Miami and Detroit. Both could end up with the Wizards’ G League affiliate, the Capital City Go-Go, where Exhibit 10 deals can turn into bonuses if they stick around long enough.
Washington’s roster now sits at the preseason limit of 21.
