The deadline for NBA teams to sign players to two-way contracts passed Wednesday, meaning no new two-way deals can be added for the remainder of the 2025-26 season, as relayed by Luke Adams of Hoops Rumors.
Teams will be allowed to begin signing two-way contracts for the 2026-27 season starting July 1.
Under the league’s previous collective bargaining agreement, the two-way signing deadline was Jan. 15. The current CBA extended the window and teams took advantage. According to league tracking, 34 two-way deals were finalized between the Feb. 6 trade deadline and Wednesday’s cutoff.
During that same stretch, 20 players were promoted from two-way deals to standard NBA contracts.
All 90 two-way roster spots across the league are now filled. That does not mean those players will necessarily remain on those contracts for the rest of the season. Teams can still promote two-way players to standard deals at any point. They simply cannot replace the vacated two-way slot afterward.
The Boston Celtics are one team to monitor. With three open spots on their 15-man roster, Max Shulga and Ron Harper Jr. are considered candidates to be promoted before the regular season ends.
Six teams made no two-way moves during the stretch between the trade deadline and Wednesday’s cutoff — the Nets, Bulls, Rockets, Lakers, Knicks and Raptors.
