Giannis Antetokounmpo’s future in Milwaukee feels more uncertain by the day, and now even ESPN’s Brian Windhorst is basically telling the Bucks to look ahead to June.
Whether Milwaukee trades Giannis before next week’s deadline or holds onto him for now, Windhorst believes the smarter play is shifting focus toward draft position, not chasing a season that’s already wobbling.
“Forget about this season for the Bucks,” Windhorst said. “The tank is now on the table for them, and the tank plus Giannis is what they’re looking at.”
That says plenty.
The Bucks control the worse of their own pick and New Orleans’ pick in the upcoming draft, which suddenly looks a lot more relevant with Antetokounmpo sidelined, the roster sputtering, and the East tightening.
Milwaukee can try to stay competitive. Or it can get pragmatic. Or it can straddle both and risk wasting time.
Either way, the Antetokounmpo question looms over everything. Trade him. Build around him. Or ride this out and reset.
The clock is ticking, and the direction still feels undecided.
