NBA Insider Chris Haynes Leaving TNT Sports After Five Years

First, Shams Charania left Stadium after six years. Now, fellow NBA insider Chris Haynes is leaving TNT Sports after five, per Ryan Glasspiegel of the New York Post.Chris Haynes, NBA, TNT

This is NBA free agency, insider style.

Haynes, who began as a writer for Pro Basketball News (my first website), could end up with Amazon or NBC, the NBA’s two new media rights holders. Amazon and NBC begin carrying games in the fall of 2025. While TNT has a pending lawsuit to keep games, it is believed the network’s NBA coverage will come to an end after the season.

“Haynes is like a Swiss Army Knife as a media talent, as he is a sideline reporter on games and a news-breaker in addition to being able to handle feature stories across audio, video and print platforms,” Glasspiegel wrote.

“He worked for ESPN and Yahoo Sports prior to his recent roles at TNT and Bleacher Report (which is also in the Turner Sports umbrella).

“Haynes became a sideline reporter for TNT in 2019, and his writing moved over from Yahoo to Bleacher Report in 2022.”

Before all that, Haynes covered the Portland Trail Blazers for CSN Northwest and the Cleveland Cavaliers for Cleveland.com.

Haynes and fellow NBA insider Marc Stein of The Stein Line are currently co-hosting a podcast entitled, “#thisleague UNCUT.”

Meanwhile, Charania’s deals with The Athletic and FanDuel TV are also set to expire.
