The NBA is likely to postpone multiple games Sunday as the league is experiencing a major uptick in positive COVID tests, per multiple reports, including Shams Charania of The Athletic.
Sunday’s game between the Cavaliers and Hawks in Atlanta has already been postponed, and games between the 76ers and Pelicans, and Nets and Nuggets, are expected to suffer similar fates.
“The NBA is still considering the fate of the Sixers-Pelicans game, but Philadelphia is struggling to deliver eight available players tonight,” reported Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN. “G-League players in Las Vegas for the Showcase has complicated the process of getting call-ups into town quickly.”
The NBA reportedly has a vaccination rate of 97 percent, but like the NFL and NHL, is experiencing a major outbreak of positive tests and players entering protocol. The Associated Press reported Thursday evening that about 8 percent of NBA players were in protocol. That number has about doubled since then.
