What’s the latest on the Cavaliers coaching search, and what might be next for the roster? Or how about the NBA Finals matchup between the Boston Celtics and Dallas Mavericks?
I joined Baskin & Phelps on 92.3 The Fan (with Dan Menningen in for Andy Baskin and Jeff Phelps) to discuss the Cavaliers’ offseason, as well as offer my thoughts on what the Cavs could do with the core four and possible head-coaching candidates.
Along with that, I talk about how the Mavs were built and the contract situation with coach Mike Brown and the Sacramento Kings.

One thing I will tell you right now about the Mavericks — nobody expected them to get this far after failing to make the playoffs last season. Remember when we were all doubting whether Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving would work?
I’m not even so sure a lot of people expected them to beat the Los Angeles Clippers in the first round … or the top-seeded Oklahoma City Thunder in the second … or perhaps even the Minnesota Timberwolves in the Western Conference Finals.
Yet here they are, playing for a championship. And don’t doubt that this team can win on the road. Dallas has done it an awful lot in these playoffs. That includes three games against Minnesota.
As for the Cavs, there are plenty of coaching names being thrown around. But I truly believe they could pull a surprise and not pick from the names we keep hearing. Mavs assistant and former G League coach Alex Jensen, of course, is a real candidate. Listen to the full interview above for more.
