NBA free agent wing Cedi Osman had a pretty decent run with the Cavaliers. He even once had his picture snapped with LeBron James, Kevin Durant and Kawhi Leonard during an offseason workout.
But Osman was a little up and down (or maybe even very up and down), before the Cavs sent him to the Spurs as part of the Max Strus trade with the Heat.
After one season with the Spurs, Osman opted to sign with Greek club Panathinaikos. But he’s not convinced his NBA run has come to an end.
“I do not think it is over for me, but you never know what happens,” Osman told Giorgos Adamopoulos of Eurohoops. “I am fully committed to Panathinaikos right now and I really want to win EuroLeague with this team.
“We have a great team, a very talented team that I believe can go for the back-to-back and I want to win all the cups that we can. I want to achieve everything here. So, that is why I am happy to be here and I am excited and hopefully it is going to be a great year for us.”
Osman, 29, is 6-foot-7 and appeared in 72 games with the Spurs last season, averaging 6.8 points, 2.5 rebounds and 1.7 assists, and shooting 47.9 percent from the field. Before that, he spent six years with the Cavaliers, averaging no less than 10.5 points from 2018-22.
He was originally selected by the Timberwolves in the second round (No. 31 pick) of the 2015 NBA Draft, then immediately traded to the Cavs. He remained overseas for his first two professional seasons, with Turkish club Anadolu Efes, before joining Cleveland in July 2017.
He signed an extension with the Cavs two years later, then was part of that three-team trade with the Spurs and Heat last offseason. That deal sent Osman and forward Lamar Stevens (and a 2030 second-rounder) to San Antonio, a 2026 second-rounder to Miami, and Strus to Cleveland.
Osman appeared in 476 regular-season games during his seven years in the NBA, averaging 9.3 points, 3.0 rebounds, and 2.0 assists.
