Veteran NBA forward Marcus Morris remains in custody following his arrest Sunday in Florida on felony fraud charges related to unpaid gambling debts in Las Vegas.

According to court documents obtained by TMZ Sports, Morris is accused of writing two bad checks to Las Vegas casinos totaling $265,000. Prosecutors say the 34-year-old issued a check for $115,000 to the MGM Grand in May 2024. The check reportedly bounced, and the debt was never repaid.

Roughly a month later, Morris allegedly wrote another bad check, this one for $150,000 to the Wynn Las Vegas. Authorities claim Morris knowingly wrote both checks without having sufficient funds and never intended to pay the money back.

Morris was arrested at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport and is currently being held as he awaits extradition to Nevada. His attorneys have sought his release, but those requests have so far been denied.

His agent has pushed back strongly against the allegations, calling them “absolute insanity” and insisting there was no intent to defraud.

A first-round pick by the Houston Rockets in 2011, Morris has appeared in 820 NBA games over 13 seasons, averaging 12 points and 4.4 rebounds while playing for eight teams.

His most productive stretch came with the New York Knicks in 2019-20, when he averaged 19.6 points and shot 43.9 percent from three in 43 games before being traded to the Los Angeles Clippers.

Morris has earned more than $100 million in career salary, per Spotrac. His most recent NBA stop was with the Cleveland Cavaliers, who waived him in April 2024 after a late-season signing.
