The NBA announced suspensions for those involved in the Pistons-Timberwolves scuffle on Sunday, with the Pistons getting what appears to be the slightly worse end of the deal.
On Tuesday, the NBA announced suspensions for three Pistons players after the brawl at Minnesota’s Target Center. Detroit’s Ron Holland, Isaiah Stewart, and Marcus Sasser were disciplined for their involvement in the altercation, which escalated into the first few rows under the baseline.
Stewart was handed a two-game suspension, while Holland and Sasser received one-game bans. None of the suspended players are expected to participate in the Pistons’ nationally televised game against the NBA-leading Oklahoma City Thunder on Wednesday (9:30 p.m., FSND/ESPN). Timberwolves players Naz Reid and Donte DiVincenzo were each suspended for one game as well.

The incident occurred with 8:36 remaining in the second quarter, as the Pistons led 39-29. Holland confronted Reid after the Timberwolves player appeared to scold him for a foul, pointing his finger in Holland’s face. DiVincenzo, who had earlier collided with Holland and been engaged in verbal exchanges with Stewart, intervened to defend Reid, pushing Holland. In response, Holland shoved DiVincenzo, and the altercation quickly escalated into a physical brawl. Stewart and Sasser rushed to confront DiVincenzo, further escalating the situation.
Stewart had already received a technical foul earlier in the period for a light shove against Rudy Gobert. Pistons head coach J.B. Bickerstaff and Timberwolves assistant coach Pablo Prigioni, a former NBA point guard, also became involved in the altercation, leading to their ejections.
The fight shifted the momentum of the game, and the undermanned Pistons — already missing Cade Cunningham and Tobias Harris due to injury — were defeated 123-104.
With just two more road games remaining this week, the Pistons are focused on securing a playoff spot, needing two more wins to clinch a postseason berth. After facing the Thunder on Wednesday, the Pistons will take on the Toronto Raptors on Friday before returning home to host the Memphis Grizzlies on Saturday.
