The Sacramento Kings have officially signed guard Daishen Nix to an NBA 10-day contract, the team announced in a press release.
Nix, who began his NBA career with the Houston Rockets as an undrafted rookie in 2021, has appeared in 99 regular season games for the Rockets and Minnesota Timberwolves, averaging 3.3 points and 1.8 assists in 12.5 minutes per game.
The 6-foot-4 guard was most recently on a two-way deal with the Timberwolves before being waived last month, prior to his two-way salary becoming guaranteed.
This season, Nix has spent the majority of his time in the G League, playing 10 games with the Iowa Wolves and seven with the Rio Grande Valley Vipers. During those 17 appearances, he has posted averages of 18.5 points, 7.2 assists, 4.7 rebounds, and 2.5 steals per game. However, his performance has been marked by issues with turnovers (3.9 per game) and shooting efficiency (.364 FG%, .298 3P%, .732 FT%).
With the Kings’ backcourt depth affected by recent trades, including sending De’Aaron Fox, Jordan McLaughlin, and Colby Jones out and only acquiring guard Zach LaVine, the team has three open spots on its 15-man roster, providing flexibility to add Nix for added depth ahead of the All-Star break.
The Kings will play three more games before the break. Given that Nix officially signed in time, he will be available for all three contests, earning $124,288 on his 10-day contract.
