76ers

The 76ers may have avoided a major scare involving Tyrese Maxey.

Maxey underwent X-rays after injuring his right hand during a collision with teammate Adem Bona late in Saturday’s loss to the Hawks. According to Tony Jones of The Athletic, the initial imaging was inconclusive and additional tests are scheduled for Sunday.

Jones reported Maxey appeared in good spirits after the game and did not have his hand wrapped.

That is good news for Philadelphia. Maxey is averaging career highs of 28.9 points and 6.7 assists while leading the league in minutes.

Meanwhile, Joel Embiid missed his fourth straight game with a strained oblique.

Magic

Desmond Bane powered the Magic to one of their most impressive wins of the season Saturday against the Timberwolves.

Minnesota focused on taking away Bane’s three-point shot. He simply attacked the rim instead. Bane went 10-of-12 on two-point attempts and 10-for-10 at the free-throw line to finish with 30 points.

“I know night in and night out what the team needs,” he said, via Jon Krawczynski of The Athletic.

Mavericks

Cooper Flagg is back on the injury report for the Mavericks. Flagg is listed as questionable for Sunday’s game at the Raptors due to lingering soreness in his left foot.

The rookie recently returned from a midfoot sprain that sidelined him for nearly a month and admitted the area felt tender during Friday’s game in Boston.

“It was a little sore,” Flagg said. “But it was something I could play through.”
