Dennis Schroder says the trade deadline doesn’t rattle him, even with his frequent-mover résumé. Instead, the veteran guard said his approach never changes.
“I always give everything for whoever I’m playing for,” Schroder said, via Sean Cunningham of KCRA. “I’m doing it for myself first, for my family and then for the organization.”
Meanwhile, there was some relief on the injury front. An MRI on rookie center Maxime Raynaud’s left leg showed no structural damage, a source told Jason Anderson of The Sacramento Bee.
Raynaud was helped off the floor late in Friday’s game after a collision, but the early signs suggest the Kings avoided a worst-case scenario.
Lakers
Jake LaRavia gave the Lakers a timely spark Friday, capitalizing on a starting opportunity created by Rui Hachimura’s injury.
LaRavia scored 11 points in the first quarter and 18 in the first half, finishing with 21 points and nine rebounds in a win over Memphis, as relayed by Thuc Nhi Nguyen of The Los Angeles Times.
“When I talk about roles, some nights this is what happens,” LaRavia said. “Other nights I’m defending, connecting, crashing. It’s just understanding what my role is each game.”
The Lakers targeted LaRavia for his shooting and defensive versatility, though his scoring has fluctuated. Friday marked his first 20-point game since early November, and he’s still working to rediscover his rhythm from deep.
Warriors
Coach Steve Kerr isn’t losing sleep over Quinten Post’s shooting numbers. The second-year center has seen his three-point percentage dip this season, but Kerr chalks it up to growth.
“It’s all part of being a young player,” Kerr said, via Sam Gordon of The San Francisco Chronicle. “The game has to slow down. You have to feel that calm and confidence.”
