Pistons
Just when it looked like Jaden Ivey was ready for a full reset, the Pistons guard hit another speed bump.
Detroit announced Thursday that he underwent a procedure on his right knee to relieve discomfort and will be reevaluated in four weeks.
The team said the surgery isn’t connected to the fractured left fibula that ended Ivey’s 2024-25 season after just 30 games. The 23-year-old said he was “100 percent healthy” entering camp, but this setback now delays his season debut until at least mid-November.
It’s a tricky development with Ivey eligible for a rookie-scale extension until Oct. 20. That now seems unlikely. Last season, he averaged 17.6 points, 4.1 rebounds and 4.0 assists, while shooting 41 percent from deep — a career best.
With Ivey sidelined, Ausar Thompson, Marcus Sasser and Caris LeVert should all see more ball-handling responsibility early on.
Bucks
The Bucks are keeping one of their best shooters long-term. Milwaukee and A.J. Green agreed to a four-year, $45 million extension, per ESPN’s Shams Charania. The deal is fully guaranteed.
Green, 26, went from undrafted in 2022 to a trusted rotation piece last season, averaging 7.4 points and 2.4 rebounds in 22.7 minutes while hitting 42.7 percent from three. Milwaukee was +6.4 per 100 possessions with him on the floor.
It’s a massive leap for Green, whose career earnings before this totaled just $6.3 million. He’s now one of only two Bucks — along with Myles Turner — with guaranteed money past 2026-27.
Raptors
Toronto trimmed its roster Thursday, waiving A.J. Lawson, Ulrich Chomche, David Roddy, Jared Rhoden and Olivier Sarr.
Lawson, 25, appeared in 26 games last season and averaged 9.1 points and 3.3 rebounds, but his non-guaranteed deal made him expendable. Chomche, the 57th pick in the 2024 draft, had been on a two-way contract but remains sidelined by a knee injury.
Roddy, Rhoden and Sarr were on Exhibit 10 deals and are expected to report to Raptors 905 in the G League, where they can each earn a bonus of up to $85,300.
The Raptors now have 14 guaranteed contracts, along with rookies Alijah Martin and Chucky Hepburn on two-way deals.
